Find the Right Chain for Your Saw
Choosing the right chainsaw chain doesn't have to be complicated. You just need to match three key specifications. Here's what they are and where to find them.

1. Pitch
What it is: Chain size, calculated by measuring the distance between any three consecutive rivets and dividing by two.
Common values: 1/4", .325", 3/8", .404".
Why it matters: It must match the drive sprocket and the guide bar nose sprocket.
Where to find it: Check the stamped number on the drive link of your old chain.
2. Gauge
What it is: The thickness of the drive link that fits into the guide bar groove.
Common values: .043", .050", .058", .063".
Why it matters: It must match the guide bar groove gauge.
Where to find it: Check the stamped number on the drive link of your old chain.
3. Drive Link Count
What it is: The total number of drive links on the chain. This determines the overall chain length.
Why it matters: It must match the guide bar length. Even bars with the same stated length can use different drive link counts across brands.
